A poor fisherman lost his prized bluefin tuna to the taxman (a shark). While waiting for my trip out of Fisherman's Landing, San Diego, one of the other boats returned to the dock and unloaded their catch. Many nice grade blue tuna were laid out to be distributed to their owners. One of them, caught the attention of many onlookers as most of the fish was missing! Perhaps the fisherman saw value in the remaining fish (fish head soup?) or he wanted to keep it for some show and tell before disposing of it.
When fishing, many battles are just between the fish and the fisherman. Occasionally, a third party would join in on the action. Many times, it's another fisherman that ruins the fight due to a tangled line (this subject is worth a whole separate post in itself) or the hungry sea lion. Every now and then, a shark would come in and take their share.
Judging from the size of what's left, this fish was probably 50 - 60 lbs whole. Sadness.
