It is still sunny and warm in Southern California and I was working on this Urban Homestead most of today.
We are hoping for rain (not in the forecast, but one can hope, right?). We dug a ditch all through the garden to catch as much rain as possible. today, we did some maintenance on that, watering and planting.
Finding some ripe Kumquats was such a nice surprise and the best afternoon snack!
Did you know that the flesh of the Kumquats is sour and the skin is sweet? You eat the whole thing!!
So good!! And you can even see my lipstick color 😀
Another beautiful fact about this tree is that it produces over many months. So different from stonefruits such as peaches and apricots. Usually, two to three weeks and the harvest is over.
As you can see, I am eating some and new ones are still growing. Kumquats for months to come!!
