A relatively new phenomenon ... new in the sense that I first saw it about 15 years ago is orchids in the grocery stores. Of course, grocery stores are now much more than grocers. They have bakeries and flower shops; finished, take-home meals; convenience counters with lottery tickets, cigarettes and candy. Some of them even have sit-down seating for the foods they prepare. They've changed.
The introduction of potted plants brought, ultimately, affordable specialties such as the beautiful and photogenic orchid!
