Well it's Monday and back at work on the island after the near week long deluge of rain. The mosquitoes are thick as fog, the humidity higher than high, and the heat is near unbearable. (Sigh... )island life in South Texas.
So I'm up on this balcony overlooking the canal and noticed / remembered.
I built that huge monstrosity of a house across the water on the right side of the photo above.
So many homes I can't remember them all but that one took forever because of it's size at near 12,000 sq ft. The thing that stuck in my mind the most was the fact there are just two people living there. That's right. Husband and wife, kids all off to college, so just two people in a house so big you could never see the other party for days or weeks even.
Sad I thought to myself thinking back. All that room, all that emptiness just so you can tell all your friends, "oh yeah it's the biggest house on the block on the corner lot". As soon as the parties have ended they can each go to their perspective side of the house and go back to texting each other from a distance.
Anyways I wouldn't want to live there. The electric bill alone probably runs in the thousands. Living on a canal home wouldn't be so bad as the views are nice enough.
Continuing the panorama leads us to the trees.
A date palm.. And then his cousin.
So much for the lunchtime pictures. It's late, I'm tired, not much else to say other than to ponder when I might settle down and build me a home. A tiny home. One full of love not bravado and bitter cold air.
