Mole Snake (Pseudaspis cana)
One of the most miss- identified snakes of South Africa. Often Worm Snakes and Blind Snakes are thought to be Mole Snakes to the uninformed. They also come in different colours, Black, Brown,Beige, Reddy-Brown.
It is found throughout South Africa. It is one of the few snakes that the baby looks nothing like the adult. Adults are big snakes - growing up to 1,4m and uniform in colour. Juvenals are spotted.
They are aggressive and strike and bite. They have no venom, but a bite is painful as the bite wound is sometimes severe as the Mole Snake bites and twists!
