Hey there all you SoCal Steemians! It's time for another meetup! For this SoCal Steemit meetup I thought we'd get outside! A few of our members have shown an interest in trying some gold prospecting so I was thinking about hosting this meetup on the East Fork of the San Gabriel river. Those that are interested in prospecting can meet me early and we can prospect all morning. And then in the afternoon we'll get a spot at the picnic area and those who are not really interested in prospecting can still join us for a fun picnic at 'The Oaks'!
Date - Sunday, June 2nd
Locations/Times -
For prospecting - 8am at Pepe's Tacos in Azusa.

If you are planning to come prospecting you will want to bring a small backpack with some water bottles and some snacks. I can provide everything else we will need for prospecting. We will be meeting at 8am at Pepe's and anyone who wants to can grab some breakfast there before we head up the hill. Then we'll head up highway 39 into the mountains. We'll pass the Morris and San Gabriel reservoirs and then make a right turn at the East Fork road bridge. Then we'll head up the East Fork road all the way to the trailhead at the end of the road. From there we will make a short 2-3 minute hike down to the river where we will find a spot to setup a sluice box or two and do some gold prospecting!
The picnic will be potluck style so if you are coming please bring a dish to share with the group. And as usual we will have free SoCal Steemit stickers for everyone who comes!
