Welcome to the latest edition of the SoCal Steemit Visiting Hour post!
Every tuesday at 8pm
is doing a weekly voice and text chat for the members in our Discord server! Here we'll be giving a short summary of our previous chat and bring up potential topics for the next upcoming chat.
Last Nights Visiting Hour
In the last SoCal Visiting Hour we had ,
, and myself (
) all join in the conversation! It was really great to get to chat with two of my favorite Steemians and we talked about all kinds of stuff! It went really fast and I'm a horrible note taker, but I'll do my best to give you all a recap.
We started out by talking about my current search for a new truck... let's just say it's not going as well as I'd like it to and I'll just leave it at that. lol.
Then we talked about a few of our recent posts and how and myself both got curated by
!! Curation projects like
and
are awesome and really help incentivize quality bloggers to keep posting on Steem even during this bear market.
Talking about the bear market got us talking about how the price of Steem and SBD has been up a bit from the low price that we've seen the last few months. We hope it continues and we hope that it will incentivize some of the people who have become inactive to come back and get active. We joked a bit about how some of these people don't post on Steem because of the low price but instead post on places like Facebook... where you get a whopping $0 every time! lol! I don't get that at all, but I'd really love to see them come back.
There are so many people that I miss seeing on Steem. Just to name a few - ,
,
,
,
,
,
,
,
,
,
... I miss you guys and I hope you all come back to Steem soon. We will be here to give our support if and when you do!
After that me and Marianne talked about gardening and how there is so much work to do in the garden this time of year! We talked about battling the weeds and the gophers and Marianne gave me some great tips to help me with that.

Next we talked a little bit about the app. We both think it's a really great app and if you like to eat out you should definitely check it out. Neither myself or Marianne eat out very often so we don't get to use it, but
has been using it so if you are interested in seeing some Tasteem posts definitely go check out her blog!
Then we talked about some of the Steem witnesses. Both the ones we like and the ones we don't really like. And we talked about what has been going on between Steemit Inc. and the Steem Alliance. I don't like drama, so personally I just stay out of things like this and I hope it all gets worked out soon.
We also talked about onboarding new Steem users and how it's important to have support groups for them so that they don't have such a tough time starting out. I'm sure many of you remember when you first started and put lots of effort into a post and it only made a cent or two. It can be quite discouraging. Add in all the confusing details about keys, dapps, tags, flags, whales, minnows, etc.. and it's easy to see why so many people get frustrated and leave the platform after only a few posts. We of course have SoCal Steemit to help and support our Steemians here in Southern California, but recently I've also been working with the Steem Terminal which is a great group that was specifically created to help new Steemians from anywhere!
Lastly Marianne and I chatted a bit about how we don't ever seem to have enough time in the day to be able to get everything we'd like to get done. With all the different projects and initiatives we are working on it can be hard to find the time to ever get to making our own posts! It's not easy, and we really admire hard working people like who are involved in so many different projects for Steem. We just wonder... how do they do it!? lol.
And I'm sure there was a few more topics that we chatted about, but that's all I got in the notes. So that's gonna be it for this Visiting Hour post!
Thank you to and
for participating in this weeks discussion. It was lots of fun as always!!
Next Tuesday
In next Tuesdays SoCal Visiting Hour we'd like to talk about having SoCal Steemit members write a "guest post" on the blog each saturday. The guest post could be about whatever that member is interested in writing about. And we could reward the guest author with SBI. If you're interested in this idea lets chat about it next week and work out the details. I can write a "guest post" template to make it easy if we want. Also to keep it easy the post could be written anytime during the week and then we can schedule it to post on Saturday. Also if anyone has any fun ideas for future meetups I'd love to hear them! And as usual we welcome anything else any members would like to bring up and discuss! So again, it's tuesday at 8pm in the SoCal Steemit Discord server. If you are not equipped to voice chat or are a bit intimidated to get on a mic, feel free to come listen to the chat and communicate with the group through the corresponding text channel. We'd love to have everyone come join the conversation!!
