Watching France compete against Australia has reminded me of a personal frustration with professional soccer players. Although they are physically strong, the appear to be quite fragile. I describe this as playing in ‘pink satin pants’.
Players manipulate match officials by falling down at the slightest touch. If even the slightest resistance was given, they could remain upright. However it is not uncommon to see players rolling on the ground pretending to be in pain.
It is interesting to see this ‘style’ of play to permeate teams. Pink Satin becomes a team uniform.
I suppose everyone plays this way from time to time... I don’t like it. The following video gives you a whiff of smelly pink satin.
