Yes you have read that right thousands of homeless people are fearing the wnd of a national lockdown as councils prepare to withdraw Emergency housing for homeless.
During the pandemic 65% of homeless people was taken off the Streets and provided with hotels bnbs and Emergency housing hostel so they could self isolate.
Now the uk government has announced that there is a roadmap out of lockdown all of the homeless housed could find themselves homeless once again.
I feel that in the 21st century no one should be homeless this day in age its a basic need of every human being on this planet but because we have put such a high value on bricks and mortar we have created this situation! How can we take homes away from people who have been housed from being on the streets just to turn around and make them homeless again.
Personally i ask myself this question " How come we can get such a vast number of people housed during a pandemic but we can't any other time"
Why make them homeless again we have started to make progress on one of the biggest social problems in the UK 🇬🇧
I also believe its cruel to give someone hope just to take it away again can you Personally imagine the feeling of being housed after however long homeless just to lose it again!
We have almost solved one of the biggest social issues of the 21 century just to reverse it and take that hope away from desperate people i myself have been homeless its impossible to get housed the average waiting list for local authorities are 6 years+ its an impossible situation!
I just feel that we have Started something that needs to continue but I'm worried local government will end this at the end of pandemic.
What are your thoughts and opinions what should the government do?
I believe if you tackle homelessness then other social issues are on way to being solved drug addiction criminality ect
Please give your opinion and comment homelessness affects us all! How can we solve these social problems?
