This is going to be a new series of posts for me, where I share stuff that happens daily.
Often people will say that I am full of unbelievable stories - that "crazy stuff happens to you all of the time." I don't think that is the case. I believe that I simply have a very good memory and sufficient critical thinking to compare the present with the past. That may be perhaps why I find the present so unbearable while others are capable of just living through their days. They are miserable but they may not feel the great regret that I feel for having lost a significant part of my youth in a country without a future.
Anyway. Today I had to go somewhere. In order to do so, I walked down several streets, headed to the subway station. In my way I found a man. I am also a photographer, for which reason I regret not having my camera on me all the time. It's too dangerous, and I don't think the protagonist of the view I saw would have enjoyed having his picture taken. But across a famous Chinese restaurant I saw a man in the midst of a pile of trash. That pile of trash forms right across two Chinese restaurants who, among other residents of the area, dump all their garbage in that spot. It's become all too common for poor people to scavenge in the garbage dumped in the city. You can see hundreds of adults and children alike looking for something to eat. But this man was sitting in the middle of the garbage. His legs, muscles wasted away from hunger, were spread before him, and he was throwing the garbage away from him like a toddle would throw his toys in a fit of rage, and the light was perfect to look at the particles of dust and pulverized garbage floating in the air. Like I said, I did not have my camera with me, but that image shall be forever imprinted in my mind.
This is the reason why I try to earn steem. I don't want to have the same fate.
