I have this nagging feeling that I need to finally begin embracing more social media. I don't feel a personal desire to, in fact I'd rather not dedicate the time and attention. However, as I become more and more serious about pursuing a professional art career and self publishing the first issue of "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." looms ever closer, it seems to be a necessary evil.
Steem is the first platform that ever got me really active and participatory. Its unique concept, empowering model, and small & welcoming community led me to interact with people all over the world in a way I've never done on any "traditional" sites & networks.
While I'd love to just sit and wait for the masses to arrive on Steem where I've built my comfy home and have my only following and support of note, that doesn't seem like a smart business decision. I'm also tired of resting on my laurels waiting to get crypto rich because I want out of my day job as soon as possible... like, yesterday! But I love the principles of this new and growing decentralized "attention economy" and hate to take what feels like a step backwards!
For those of you reading, especially fellow artists and entrepreneurs... how do you manage your time and attention, and what sites and services do you utilize yourself and see the most value in?
Currently I have a Facebook page which I do my best to remember to share relevant Steem content to. I have a Twitter that I've barely used and almost not touched for a few years now. I just uploaded a first video to a YouTube channel, and I have Instagram and DeviantArt accounts which are set up but completely devoid of content or activity!
As an artist I've also considered dipping my toe into the waters of something like Patreon, and I'd like to make time to dabble in new crypto projects like Narrative although I feel a strong Steem loyalty...
Don't mind me... this post is equivalent to me thinking out loud, but if anyone reading struggles with the same decisions, or has overcome those struggles and has any advice I'd love to hear it! I swear, with a bit more cash flow I'd just be hiring a few friends to be my social media managers...
