Social Web is bringing a variety of changes, but above all, it is all the more meaningful in that it brings the passionate people who were hiding to the forefront and serves as a platform for previously solidarity with each other to revolutionize the real world. Although it may seem like simply sharing experience and expanding relationships online, it should not be overlooked that the basis of it is a link in the real world and connecting his or her own capabilities and thoughts offline.
It is also said that Twitter’s 280 character sentence is too weak to contain any substantive truth while the speed at which it spreads is light speed, and some said this is a big problem. Of course, it makes sense. However, 280 characters are the number of characters that people feel and there is no shortage of spreading their anger. At least it worked well enough to issue a warning message that many people were watching with their eyes wide open. The social web worked as a platform for people to share experiences and emotions during the Jasmine Revolution or Occupy Wall Street protests. Not simply that social web was important, but messages and emotions about what vision is important. What ignited the movement was the question of oppression and inequality, unfairness, and vision and hope. Technology has only given some tooling assistance to these fundamental questions in the name of social, mobile technologies.
A more serious reflection of the Social Web begins here. This tool can bring people together and help do simultaneous actions. At the heart of the revolution, however, was the burning sensibility of those eager for change. If people shared experiences and did not have common aspirations, they would not move. They all experience changes through a virtuous circle in which everyone exercises common leadership, supports and inspires each other. Individual vision and leadership are needed to bring about these changes. These forces of change occur when waves emerge that share visions to create a better future and inspire each person to follow them. In order for this change to be sustainable, trust in each other must be created.
Business is not much different, starting with the needs and aspirations of customers and stakeholders, and influencing each other’s decisions while sharing their experiences and emotions. Shared experiences lead to collective new decisions, and through these social processes, business and social phenomena change. This is very different from the traditional marketing, PR, and sales strategies centered on the general brand and mass media. To design a meaningful and shared experience in advance, it is good to organize a network with many people, answer their questions, solve problems together, and get support from active supporters. In addition, if you learn from the interaction with people on your network, and if you change the process or combine it with products, services, etc., it will make positive changes to society and business.
