Social media is opportunity. I used to be a social media hater thinking that I waste too much time watching the highlights of my friends' lives and not enough time living my own life. This belief was crushed when I discovered Gary Vaynerchuk.

Many of you are familiar with Gary. He's someone who preaches the power of attention and stresses the opportunity social media has to showcase someone's talents. With this newfound perspective, my opinions of social media have changed.

I now see it as an opportunity to impact people's lives with no gatekeeper to censor content.

As for a paid social media: it's brilliant. Whether you like it or not every social media platform makes money off of one thing, the user's attention. The more attention, the more money. Why not take out the middle man advertiser and reward the people doing the hard work?

On Steemit influencers won't have to sell out and truly get paid by the attention they bring to the platform. I think it's an awesome business model and I see it being the next big step in social media in general.
