The EU is destroying billions worth of COVID vaccines. The US has spent over $40 billion on the shots. These are massive sums for a product that had negative health impacts and didn't stop COVID. This monumentally wasteful spending never would have happened if we'd learned from the bird flu and swine flu debacles that unfolded in the recent past.
In 2009, the drug company Roche sold the US government $1.5 billion worth of Tamiflu to fight bird flu. This was problematic because Tamiflu was worthless as medicine and bird flu never became a serious threat to public health. The point of Tamiflu was never medical. It was financial. Donald Rumsfeld personally made $5 million from the episode.
Not so much has changed. As the latest pandemic unfolded, at least 75 federal lawmakers were financially invested in COVID vaccines, treatments, and tests. Pandemic price-gouging also boosted corporate profits across the board while increasing the wealth of billionaires by about 42%. Government officials, big corporations, and billionaires all profited immensely from COVID. Profited at our expense.
This neatly illustrates the parasitic nature of our control regime. The entire economy is a machine designed to steal value from our lives and communities while enriching the people in charge. In times of crisis, this machine goes into overdrive, generating enormous profits. Government outlays explode. Prices go up and up. Now, following the last crisis, homelessness is rising by 12% annually. Meanwhile, billions upon billions of dollars have been flowing from the US to Ukraine and Israel.
The next domestic crisis may be just around the corner. When it comes, the control regime will inevitably capitalize on it. The result will be more power for the powerful and a further erosion of freedom, likely combined with more funneling of public funds into corporate coffers.
Had we as a society learned from the Tamiflu debacle, we might not have been so easily fooled by COVID. If we can't now learn from COVID, we may be just as easily fooled by the next crisis that comes along. It's embarrassing to admit that we were tricked by public officials and the media into accepting insane policies and dubious vaccines. And it's troubling to consider that the people behind this trickery will never be held accountable for their actions.
These things are uncomfortable, but not as uncomfortable as the prospect of being fooled yet again by the control regime the next time it manufactures a crisis. Censorship and propaganda were critical components of the COVID scam. The next big scam will probably be sold to us by similar methods.
