Friday, we love you.
(Well, those of us who don't work weekends MORE SO perhaps).
Frigga (or Frigg), the Germanic goddess of marriage and love – wifey to Odin, apparently had LOTS of FOREKNOWLEDGE and WISDOM. Or more annoyingly, in modern vernacular, 'the b was WOKE'. Ok, she was probably fictitious, but it's going to give me a chance to vent, bear with me.
So, what did she know??
Wonder if she was aware of the vast programming and slavery of our society, or the gradual indoctrination from birth of our children to accept the State as their nanny, royalty as boss and spend many years learning, only to end up treading the hamster wheel of employment, tax paying (unless you're an elite), and brow-beaten with working hours separating you from your family, the world wars relentless, yet the votes still dropping in to the ballot boxes.
My friend just got a new job and I was shocked to see how as a Paralegal with a law degree she is earning the same as someone cleaning houses for a living - a minimum wage all on offer. Student debt to pay off too, but that can clearly wait.
The big chain companies relying on you claiming working tax credits to make up the salary deficit, which of course all comes from the tax payers' money! How is this allowed? Private companies exploiting people - nothing new, but us of course, dumbly supporting it out of the public purse... Or what's left of it after bailing out the banks. Messed up, man.
So why is Friday so loved?
We can hammer the booze, focus more on family, watch sport, zone out with brain-numbing reality TV, tend to our cars, gardens, house, yard, go for a drive and forget about the SH*T most of us buy in to? I don't know who the Jones's are, but I sure as heck don't need to keep up with them, I'd probably get done for speeding if I did and be forced to pay a fine for my freedoms.
Wonder what Frigga would be doing on a Friday? Buying tickets to a chariot race, enjoying a goat's milk bath or spinning golden yarn. How wonderful, all of it - just waiting for my OFF GRID family on STEEMIT to cover these subjects. :)
As a Norse goddess of marriage, love, childbirth, wisdom she would hopefully be giving Odin a good bollocking for his unhealthy love of the gallows, death and war.
I mean, talk about how 'opposites attract'. Frigging hell.
