SOFTWARE PIRACY:
Software piracy is theft plain and simple. Dressing it up in the pseudo-romantic connotations of “piracy” does not change that fact. Making excuses for theft diminish the harm that it does. Pardon the unpleasant analogy, but excuses are like flatulence, everybody has some and nobody wants to hear it.
In general, software piracy is the unauthorized use of software or it may mean distributing and making copies of the software. If you do not have the copyright owner’s permission to use the software, you are committing piracy.
SOFTWARE PIRACY IS NOT A CRIME:
Wholeheartedly support piracy. Some people just can’t afford the software they need. And I believe that it is only a crime when they redistribute or use it for monetary advantage. I do believe that piracy is illegal but not a crime if used for personal use. DON’T DO DRUGS THAT’S A CRIME !!!
An example of software piracy is when you download a copy of Microsoft word from a file-sharing website without paying for it.
The reason that piracy is not a crime, which makes offenders difficult to find and penalize under South African law, is because there is no relevant law in place.
In this content, when I speak about piracy, I mean copying or acquiring computer data(music, videos, software etc) without the authorization to do so. A lot of definitions can get murky and convoluted, so let's just leave it at that.
Piracy allows us to discover media that we would not otherwise skip. It could be argued that internet piracy is actually what placed some brands and TV shows on the map thanks to the word of mouth, perhaps without piracy, they would have faded away in the obscurity.
REASONS WHY PEOPLE DO PIRACY ??
• When they do not want to pay for it.
• When they can not afford it.
• When it’s not available in their region.
• When gets delayed.
• When they find it hard to purchase.
• When they want to use it only once.
• When they see, others are also doing.
CONCLUSION:
To reiterate, internet piracy is illegal according to current law. You may or may not that internet piracy is immoral, but I think that it's clear that there are definitely benefits to its existence.
