Take a breath. The greater good for who? The greater good for you, for your family, for someone that you promised to help? Whatever decision you make, will you be able to look at yourself in the mirror next week and be proud of it? If you can, go do something else right now that has nothing to do with what's getting you down. Put on some headphones and dance around, do some dishes, take a bath, do 15 jumping jacks, 10 push-ups, and one lap around your living room. Bake something just for yourself. Watch something funny. If it's not a decision that you have to make right now, if it's something that you do not have to do right now, then it can wait until you can make the best decision for you. If it's something that can't wait and you need to do an action right now, make the decision that feels right to you and that causes the least harm. I hope this helps.
