The blood rave from Blade reminds me of seeing Snipes in What We Do In The Shadows on Hulu. Genius TV Show BTW. I hope you are watching that this year!
His theory is interesting, and it would be a lot of fun to make scores for movies and TV. I say that to myself almost every day. However, there is something to be said for when the director just combs through all of their favorite music in their library and they cherry pick certain elements of certain tracks for certain scenes.
The score for Mad Max was really great, but on the flip side, compare that to the score of some older movies like Natural Born Killers, or The Crow. Both of those movies had incredible soundtracks and someone in the production crew doing music really knew their shit too!
It is a different approach, neither is necessarily better than the other... Just different.
