Hi, I'm an economist living in South Africa, and seriously concerned with what's going on here. I can only, however, speak about this under pseudonym for fear of reprisal from my employer and the state. It's too sensitive a subject and for anyone who knows anything about how Marxist-Leninists operate (read about Stalin's terror, for example), will tend to lie low. Gulags aren't cool.
People don't seem to realise it--and if they do, they don't talk about it--but Nelson Mandela was a Marxist revolutionary who let he revolutionary flame die in the 1990s. His many followers still within the ruling tripartite alliance (ANC/SACP/Cosatu) have in recent years called for the implementation of the second phase of the National Democratic Revolution (NDR), particularly as Jacob Zuma was derailing this grand socialist scheme quite effectively. Now that Madiba has passed, the revolutionary fervour has intensified dramatically and Cyril Ramaphosa came into power promising to deliver and implement the 2nd phase of the NDR
