It's certainly a fascinating time to be alive. So much is going on and we've never been so connected... Space X, and Bigelow are moving steadily towards moon and mars colonies. The Hanson brothers continue their extended work with AI. Our progress with the environment is certainly looking optimistic. And of course, the internet. My god, how easily we're able to communicate now. But, then why do so many feel this utter state of loneliness and isolation? Is it the borders we've created in society? The class warfare that's been since the dawn of currency? Or was the societal class there before? Perhaps a question for another time. For now, my question is, "Are we ready for all these new technological advances?"
With the new state of AI (artificial intelligence) Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has already brought up the splicing of humans and AI to combat the probable dangers. I'm not much of a Treky, but I believe The Borg showed us a possible outcome of that. And as much as I'm excited of our new possibilities of space travel, (and believe me, I am) I'm extremely leary of what that would mean in terms of exponential growth. As David Suzuki once stated, "should we not learn to live within our own biosphere before destroying another?". What level of responsibility do we owe the universe or galaxy? What level of responsibility do we owe ourselves.
Some believe that the additional levels of consciousness through the AI will give us what we need to unite, the knowledge to fix our planet, and the ability to travel to new horizons. Others say it will only create a new enemy, a divide. One that will be out of our control. I suppose for now,all we can do is speculate and enjoy the show.
By the way, I mentioned the internet earlier. And if you're from the states, I hope to god you've voiced your opinion on Net Neutrality. If you haven't, please do.
