La semana pasada en el decanato de ciencias económicas y empresariales de la UCLA durante toda la semana se celebró “la semana del economista” y cada día habían diferentes ponencias relacionadas con la economía, nosotros desde el proyecto educativo (hivetalkprojec) tuvimos el privilegio de contar con un espacio el día martes y como ponentes se nos pidió que habláramos del panorama cripto en Venezuela, con la idea de desmitificar y presentar la realidad de las criptos en la región.
Obviamente conversamos sobre Hive y presentamos nuestra amada blockchain en dicha jornada, pero, de ello le hablaremos en otra oportunidad. Algo interesante es que al ser un evento formativo y abierto a todos más allá de estudiantes y docentes de la institución se acercaron medios de comunicación locales y uno de ellos nos brindó un espació o en otras palabras nos entrevistó.
Debo confesar que en principio pensé que saldrían algunos clips audiovisuales a modo de reseñar la actividad del día, pero no fue así. Lo que realmente ocurrió fue que redactaron un artículo en la versión impresa del diario, por lo que un par de días después busqué en un kiosco cercano para comprar el diario para leer el artículo.
Desconozco el alcance del diario, es algo que vamos a investigar, lo cierto y asombroso es que es de los pocos diarios impresos que quedan en la ciudad y que hablamos de una ciudad con un millón de habitantes y que si decimos que solo el 10% tuvo acceso al diario hablamos de 100k que pudieron leer la mención a Hive en el artículo que fue una pequeña síntesis de lo que pudimos conversar en la ponencia.
Aunque ahora que lo pienso no solo las personas que compraron el diario pudieron tener acceso al artículo, sino que muchos programas de radios locales leen las portadas de los diarios y afortunadamente el artículo se menciona en la primera plana del diario.
Es grandioso como el trabajo va dando frutos con el pasar del tiempo, no es casualidad que nos hayan invitado a esta jornada, sino que desde el proyecto estamos convirtiéndonos en una referencia desde la difusión y educación de la industria cripto en la región.

I was interviewed by a local newspaper
Last week, the UCLA School of Economics and Business Administration held “Economist Week,” with different presentations related to economics each day. We from the educational project (hivetalkprojec) had the privilege of being given a slot on Tuesday, and as speakers we were asked to talk about the crypto landscape in Venezuela, with the idea of demystifying and presenting the reality of cryptocurrencies in the region.
Obviously, we talked about Hive and presented our beloved blockchain during the event, but we will talk about that another time. Something interesting is that, as it was an educational event open to everyone beyond the students and teachers of the institution, local media outlets came and one of them gave us a space, or in other words, interviewed us.
I must confess that at first I thought they would release some audiovisual clips to review the day's activities, but that was not the case. What actually happened was that they wrote an article in the print version of the newspaper, so a couple of days later I looked for a nearby newsstand to buy the newspaper to read the article.
I don't know the newspaper's reach, it's something we're going to investigate, but the truth is that it is one of the few remaining print newspapers in the city, and we are talking about a city with a million inhabitants. If we say that only 10% had access to the newspaper, we are talking about 100,000 people who could read the mention of Hive in the article, which was a small summary of what we discussed in the presentation.
Although now that I think about it, not only did the people who bought the newspaper have access to the article, but many local radio programs read the front pages of newspapers, and fortunately, the article is mentioned on the front page of the newspaper.
It's great how the work is bearing fruit over time. It's no coincidence that we were invited to this event, but rather that the project is becoming a benchmark for the dissemination and education of the crypto industry in the region.
