Castro Urdiales es un poema. Una auténtica perla que brilla con luz propia, a la vera de esa celosa nodriza, que es esa mar, que por aquí conocemos como Cantábrico.

A la vera, también, de su imponente iglesia-fortaleza de estilo gótico, dedicada a la figura de la Asunción de la Virgen, y de ese faro reaprovechado en el interior de un pequeño castillo, Castro Urdiales, no obstante, lleva en su apellido el origen de su antigua sangre celta, señora emparentada con cántabros, astures y vascos, señores del litoral.

En las proximidades, su Paseo Marítimo es un pequeño vergel, metafóricamente hablando, por el que resulta muy agradable dejarse llevar por los sentidos, admirando la grandiosidad, no exenta de armonía, de sus palacetes y edificios de estilo modernista, que dejan huella en el alma, con el sabor inconfundible del salitre y del recuerdo.

Castro Urdiales is a poem. An authentic pearl that shines with its own light, on the verge of that jealous nurse, which is that sea, which we know here as Cantabrian.

On the verge, too, of its imposing church-fortress of Gothic style, dedicated to the figure of the Assumption of the Virgin, and of that lighthouse re-used inside a small castle, Castro Urdiales, nevertheless, carries in its surname the origin of his old Celtic blood, lady related to Cantabrians, Astures and Basques, lords of the coast.

Nearby, its promenade is a small orchard, metaphorically speaking, for which it is very pleasant to be carried away by the senses, admiring the grandeur, not without harmony, of its palaces and buildings of modernist style, which leave a mark on the soul, with the unmistakable taste of saltpeter and memory.
