Hey All,
I highly suggest reading Speaker for The Dead by Orson Scott Card, amazing sequel to Ender's game that focuses much more on human culture and political philosophy.
To those who have read it, when I found steemit one of the first things I thought was "Demosthenes and Locke".
This was the first social network that I felt connected with my concept of 'The Nets'.
They had to write thought provoking content and comment on important peoples work to make a name for themselves, to pick up steem (lol). And once they did they were able to have more freedom, say what they wanted and spark lively debates.
Despite the fact that you can buy your rank here, the concept of this network strikes me as very similar to that of the nets, something I've been hoping to see for years. If we could have networks where only esteemed (lol) individuals could debate great current topics while others could watch, that would be great!
Steemit is a revolutionary social media site and it is definitely going to change the name of online networking forever.
Viva la steem.
Signing off,
