Saturday was a blast! We had been looking forward to our first hive meeting and the day had finally come. It was a great day of fun, catching up and learning new things about the hive project. Our local guide had announced some weeks back that we would be having our hive meeting and we were excited about it. After many deliberations about the appropriate date to accommodate as many as possible, the 19th of April was chosen.
Our local guide went out of her way to make the preparations for this day and kept us informed on how it was coming up efforts, challenges and successes. We are particularly grateful that even though there were lots of hitches along the way from deciding the date which was not convenient for many, to making plans on how to get the items ready for the big day, and finally getting some to attend, we still had a nice outing learned a lot and were greatly refreshed. Thanks to
The time was set for 3pm and I was excited to meet with the group, I got there and notified others of my presence, met up with our local guide and got ready for the arrival of others. On their arrival, we did some catching up then we were given our shirts which fit perfectly and we settled down for the business of the day. Our local guide welcomed all and shared the agenda for discussion. I made a conscious effort to take some notes that would help me in my hive journey.
Consistency and being active on the hive channel was firstly mentioned. This is important because it gets us to our goal of being in the community. She used an illustration to drive home her point on consistency which was spot on. I really needed to hear that because I have not been at all consistent in using hive and exploring all its benefits. When we set a goal to hit a particular milestone on this project, only consistency can get us there.
Engagement was another cogent point discissed. We were encouraged to regularly make posts or try to go through other hivers post and make meaningful comments. This keeps us visible on the hive platform. Voting for other people's post was also encouraged, we could do that by getting hive and also contributing to our votes and others. We also learned that promoting posts on Twitter could also improve visibility to our hive platform. Even though we were mostly not active in twitter or X, its something we want to look into starting and following other prominent hivers to benefit more from their posts.
I also gave a good thought to having a long term goal on hive not just looking for quick benefits but enjoying the process as we go along the way. We want to regard the hive community as our own media space where we interact daily with other users as we do other Social media platforms while making our own posts and engagements.
Microbloging on Ecency wave is one aspect I also particularly was grateful for because one can just use it to share your spur of the moment thought and happenings without making long writeups or posts and remain active. It is also good for some of us who have not had so much time to dedicate to making posts regularly because of other engagements. I was even able to share a post on that same day after learning about it.
We had a good time chit chatting about the vibes community which I just heard about for the first time. Learned that we could actually listen to various songs of different hivers and even sing and upload songs of our own. I started thinking of all the songs I like to sing already.😄 Hope to share some as soon as possible.
Old and active friends were encouraged to drop anything beneficial to the group like inleo topics and contests we could all partake in. also showed us how to make posts on Inleo individually. Everyone was encouraged to ask questions for any clarifications on areas discussed and challenges we could be facing. I asked all necessary questions and got all the clarification I needed for that time. One can not learn it all in one day, so I would be taking in more knowledge on #hive as we go along in this beautiful platform. For now I'm glad my interest is rekindled and ready to keep pushing.
Another highlight of the day was when received a gift from our local guide for being active and consistent on the hive platform. It was so nice to see and an encouragement to everyone to keep at it
We had refreshments and chatted some more on general hive matters. Then it was time to shake it up with dancing, laughter, picture taking and video making. Everyone had so much fun after which some proceeded to shop with spend HBD and some went home. Looking forward to exploring more activities with hive, spendHBD and other communities.
