The May Bush ( Spiraea cantoniensis ) is a Deciduous Shrub to around 2 metres ( 6 feet ) tall. It is native to China. The May Bush has cane-like growth with serrated green leaves, and a great show of pure white flowers in springtime. It does best in a full sun position and is fast growing. It has few pests and diseases, and likes a hard pruning every now and then after flowering. It is best suited to a cool or temperate climate. There is also another variety of Spiraea with Pink flowers. They are in flower now in the Suburbs of Sydney.
