When I think, I think in images more than in words, which makes it very difficult for me to translate what just went through my mind to others. I feel I can never do my thoughts justice, but I'll continue to try.
With that said, this is what I had been thinking about during my lunch:
Everyone talks of building internal walls to protect themselves. While I have come to learn the dangers of walls, I also understand that some people need them, at least temporarily or while making a transition. It makes perfect sense, walls can give a person great comfort. Think of your physical world. Where are you the most comfortable? Typically, the answer is going to be “Home”, and most homes are made of…You guessed it, WALLS. But, there is a very important thing to make note of… The walls in your home consist of doors and windows. Make sure the walls within you have the same. It’s a home that you want to build yourself, not a prison.
Then, one day when you’re nice and ready, you can glance out that window and you can step through that door, and when you do, you’ll make quite the realization… Those walls that you built. They were not protecting you from the world, they were protecting you from you.
It can be a scary thing, letting go and opening up. Just remember, courage could not exist without fear.
