HORSE.
HORSE is a game which is played using 5 variations of poker. Holdem Omaha Razz Stud and Eight or better. It is one of the more popular mixed games played. The game is played with one round of each variation or with a time limit for each game. Starting with Holdem and playing through each game through to Eight or better. When all 5 games have been played it returns to Holdem and repeats the cycle through games. All the games are played with a fixed limit.
Holdem.
Holdem, which is the game most players play. Each player is dealt two cards, these cards are unseen by other players (hole cards) unless the hand completes to the end and cards are then shown to see the highest hand. Cards are also shown when players go all in and are called by another.
Each hand in Holdem consists of 4 stages, The two cards you are dealt is the first stage. A round of betting begins, If more then one player remains the next round begins.
Next comes the flop, Three cards are dealt face up to the table and you can use these cards in combination with your two hole cards. (all players have use of table cards.)Another round of betting begins, and as long as two players remain after the betting the turn comes next and one more card is dealt to the table.
Another round of betting begins and if two or more players remain, the river card is dealt. The river card is the last card to be dealt and leaves five cards on the table plus the two hole cards you have. Using a combination or all Seven cards you can see, (if the five cards on the table make the strongest hand, you can use all five of the table cards.)

OMAHA.
Omaha is similar to Holdem in some ways, The commonality is in the hand rankings which are the same. The difference is you get 4 cards, not just two. The rounds go the same as in Holdem. Your ranking hand though must consist of at least two cards from the four hole cards you have. If you hold only one spade and there are four spades on the table, you do not make a flush, You must use two cards from your hole cards to make a hand.
RAZZ.
Razz is like 7 card stud, but you are playing only for the low hand. A2345 is the strongest hand in Razz. Players are dealt seven cards in the course of a hand and use the best five of those cards to make a hand. Straights and flushes do not work against you, and an Ace is always low.
The first cards you see is three cards, two cards are hidden like hole cards in Holdem, only you can see those cards, and one card face up. The player with the highest card showing opens the betting, this is called the bring in. Play continues till betting for the round is completed. Ther are three more rounds in which you will be dealt one card, these cards will be face up and betting is started by the player with the lowest strong hand, the final card is dealt face down like your hole cards. Five cards from the seven cards you have are used to determine your hand.
The best hand is the 5 lowest cards. You hand is ranked from the lowest of your high cards.
Example 1: 24567 vs A2348 the 24567 will win the hand as the highest low card there is the 7, The 7 beats the 8 even though the hand with the 8 holds the lowest card overall.
Example 2: A2334 vs A234K the A234K will win the hand. The A2334 has a pair, and the pair rank higher than any five random different cards. Basically, you are reversing the hand rankings of Holdem and disregarding straights and flushes.
STUD.
Stud No not me, the poker game. In stud poker the game goes pretty much the same as Razz, in stud though, the lowest card showed begin the betting. The cards you are dealt, go in the same manner as with Razz. Beginning with two cards face down and one face up. The hand ranking is the same as Holdem and Omaha. The game continues the same as Razz with three rounds of one card being dealt to each player and one round with one more face own card. Using five of the cards you have to determine the best hand you can make.
EIGHT OR BETTER.
Eight or better is a combination of Razz and Stud. Known also as Stud Hi Lo. In Eight or better two hands can win a share of the pot, the highest and the lowest hand win a portion of the pot. Both the highest hand and the lowest hand take 50% of the pot. When a player takes both sides of the pot, this is called a Scoop.
Unlike in Razz example where the A234K can win the pot, in Razz the highest card of your five is 8, any card over 8 cannot be counted as part of a low hand. You must have five cards lower than 8.
The rounds of the game play out the same as in Razz and Stud with 3 initial cards, one face up. three rounds of one card face up and the last with one face down card. Straights and flushes do not work against your hand for the low.
I hope this provides a basic understanding of HORSE, at least enough to get you started playing. The game may still be confusing for a while, though after a few games it will make more sense. With HORSE it is important to watch for the change in the game. You may be playing Razz one hand and then Stud the next. In both of these games, the hand you want is the opposite of the other.
