I've only just started playing Splinterlands recently having come to learn of the game during the current crypto fueled bull-run frenzy π€. I've never been able to get the idea of the value in crypto till I tried out Splinterlands and started diving into the entire HIVE ecosystem to learn more about it. But that's another story for another day. π
WHY SPLINTERLANDS?
I played Magic the Gathering during my growing up years, starting at its 4th edition release. Coincidentally, I'd say that Splinterlands is somewhere at that stage too comparatively. I'd say that it wasn't only the deck building and gameplay which interested me, but ALSO the idea of building a collection of cards that I owned.
Over the years, adulthood happened, I had less time to spend time playing, and as things moved to the digital space, games like Hearthstone caught my eye. There was one big glaring problem - YOU DON'T REALLY OWN THE CARDS YOU'VE SPENT YOUR MONEY ON! When that realisation hit me, I pretty much lost interest in all TCGs for quite some time βΉοΈ
That was until I came across Splinterlands. A TCG where I can play in short bursts of free time, AND most importantly, OWN THE CARDS which I've obtained. This is really where I can finally see the Real-Life value of Blockchain technology. Cards which can't be counterfeited, no arbitrary ruling from game companies which can take your cards away, the freedom to trade/sell/give/dowhateveryouwant with your property.
Of course, the game itself has to have solid gameplay and design too π or no one would even touch it with a 10 foot pole. Fortunately, I've gotta say, Splinterlands really hit that sweet spot for me. π
It's still early days for me though, but I'm quietly confident that this is going to be a long term game for me. Splinterlands itself is experiencing healthy growth, the game developers and community are engaged, and the roadmap for Splinterlands development looks good too π.
Time to sign off now. Here's to many more posts and giveaways from me in the future.
