Thanks for taking a peak at this #battlerecap :)
There is a weekly challenge hosted by Splinterlands to feature matches with specific monsters and reward players for doing so!
In this case, the monster of the week is the loveable Lava Spooder (Lava Spider)
Here's the board as we start our 22 Mana match, Gold League II.
As always, we will examine and analyze our opponents board first, then our own before we go into the recap.
Battle Rules: Normal
22 Mana
Gold II
Opponent: Brillo
As the board loaded, I saw Brillo had Val Kilmer... errr Valnamor... as his summoner... uh oh...
If you don't know... Valnamor is a bad mofo... At 5 Mana, he adds +1 to Magic Atk, Speed and Health! Holy buttnuggets...
Summoner: Valnamor
Rarity: Legendary
Splinter: Water
Mana Cost: 5
Benefits: +1 Mgk Atk, +1 Spd, +1 HP
I love my Valnamor, even though he is but a lowly level 1 scrub vs Brillo's L2... My Val is still bad to the brizzle tho 😎
As the cards were displayed... I couldn't help but scratch my head at what he chose...
He put down a LEVEL TWO Valnamor... That's some SERIOUS BUSINESS right there...

After the Val-Kil-Namor... I... Well... I was/am a little confused about the team he chose...
He played a L3 Pelacor Mercenary in the Tank slot... Followed by a L1 Nerissa Tridawn in the 2nd slot and a L1 Sniping Narwhal in the 3rd slot
So... he plays a ~$2,000 card as a summoner... then... honestly I have NO CLUE what went through his mind...
I mean... maybe the poor guy had a seizure or something... but I'm betting he was just a new player with some rented cards.
L2 Legendary Summoner... L3 Stealth monster up front... L1 Tank mid... L1 Starter Narwhal 3rd... wut???
Anyways... righto - moving on to our team and the absolute SLAUGHTER that was to follow

Okay, okay... It's not Firefox... It's Yodin Zaku 😝
Now... if you haven't had the privilege of being shit-stomped by Yodin yet... well... check out these stats:
Summoner: Yodin MF'n Zaku
Rarity: Legendary
Splinter: FIRE
Mana Cost: 7
Benefits: +1 Rng Atk, +1 HP... +1 Danny Devito?!?!?
That's right - Yodin gives your WHOLE TEAM... BLAST!!

So... back to the report... cough sorry for the tangent.
At 22 Mana, with 7 of it going to Yodin... I decided to use... ELEVEN mana?!! On a Grum Flameblade...
Look at that glorious, big, bearded bastard 😍
! Pause ! - I'd like to say I've yet to play AGAINST this deadly duo but I have beaten the everloving DAYLIGHTS out of multiple opponents with YodinGrum so I'm pretty sure I'm the pioneer of this combo or at least one of the very first to unleash it - ! Unpause !
Shall we resume? Yes? Good... MOVING ON!
In my 2nd slot, I threw in a Creeping Ooze to slow his team down and finally in the 3rd slot... because I had seen the call for Lava Spider battle recaps... I added a Lava Spider in the hopes I would be able to showcase my Shiny Spooder and the absolute BRUTALITY that is YodinGrum...
You may be asking yourself... "Why didn't he bring in his RageChikun or Scorch Fiend for 0 Mana?!"... well the truth is I was Ubering and my Rider was approaching the car... so I had to send it lmaoooooo I totally spazzed and forgot to add them, in my haste... 😒🤦♂
Why did I choose the Lava Spider? At L3 she's a 3 Mana, 1 Rng Atk, 3 Spd, monster with a big ol' booty: 5 HP!
With 3 Speed, the Spooder is usually one of the first to act... especially with an Ooze in play, slowing their team down!
On top of this, she has Snipe - which means she'll be dropping 2 Dmg Yodin-Bombs in the center of the enemy formation hopefully disrupting whatever foul deeds and nefarious acts they may have planned!!

At this point you may be wondering WHY YodinGrum is such a big deal to me...
Well.. you see that first ability Grum has... It's called "Bloodlust"...
What does it do: "Upon killing an enemy monster, add +1 to each stat
(Attack, Speed, Health, Armor)
[Note - on reverse speed matches it does NOT add speed]
So what's the big deal??? Well... 4 Atk is pretty deadly... buuuuuuuuuuuut... Bloodlust TRIGGERS on enemies killed by Blast Damage too 😱 ☠️
NOW, without further ado or gilding of the lily... on to SLAUGHTER!!!
One last time... for your convenience... Board Position, beginning of Turn 1:
After the first turn, here's the new layout:
You can see the carnage that unfolded:
- The Pelacor Merc hit first, plinking one armor from Grum
- The Spooder used Snipe and shot Nerissa for 2 Dmg and Blasted the Pelacor and the Unicorn-Whale for 1 each
- The Narwhal shot back and murdered my poor Ooze 😢
- Grum swung for 4 dmg and thankfully connected with the flittering Pelacor Merc... absolutely mangling him and killing the pesky flier. Nerissa was hit for TWO Blast dmg from Grum as a result... The Bloodlust ability triggered and Grum is now (5 Atk, 2 Spd, 12 Health and 1 Armor)*
- Grum started with 11 Health and 4 Armor... lost 4 Armor due to Pelacor and Nerissas attacks... but is now +1 HP compared to the start and gained 1 Armor back due to Bloodlust!
On to the Turn 2 recap!
Let's take a look at the board after Turn Tw... OMG WHAT HAPPENED YOU PSYCHOPATH?!?!
* INSTANT REPLAY *
It would appear Nerissa & Narwhal are dead... and Brillo retires in defeat 😳
So what the hell happened??
- The Narwhal using Snipe, shot my poor Lava Spider for 2 Dmg, lowering her health to 4 😠
- Shelob returns the favor, hitting the stupid pointy-nosed blue whale for 2 dmg and hits Nerissa with 1 Blast Dmg (courtesy of Yodin) lowering her HP from 6 to 5...
- Nerissa fires a FOUR point Mgk Atk at Grum... But remember - Grum's OTHER ability is Void Armor and that makes Magic Attacks hit his ARMOR first... Not directly into his Health like other monsters... She depletes his (1) Armor but the other 3 Atk Pwr dissapates!
- Grum... Well... Grum isn't having ANY of this... so he swings for FIVE Dmg and I swear you could hear his right hook connect from two arenas over... Tridawn, who was weakened by the SpooderBlast to 5HP is K tf O and the THREE (3) Blast Dmg is enough to take out the Narwhal too!
It is important to note, I took the screenshot AFTER Bloodlust was applied for Nerissa/Narwhal... Grum is now: 7 Attack, 4 Speed, 2 Armor and 14 Health...
While YodinGrum may be the star of this show... The Lava Spider is an invaluable addition to any lineup!
3 Mana for a monster with 1 Rng, 2 Spd, 4 HP + Snipe at L1... that's a LOT of Monster for only 3 Mana! At L3, as I played her... she was 1 Rng, 3 Spd, 5 HP - a big booty judy fo'sho!
