Good morning Splinterfriends and Hivers! Holozingers and Soulkeepers! Good morning to one and all!!
Over the last week or so, I have been fairly active on Peak'd, speaking with others about what it means to have an "Investor Mindset" or "Growth Mindset" on Hive.
This all came about from the posts talking about the "KE Ratio" or how much an account Invests... or how much they "Extract"

Please keep in mind, the KE Ratio is not a magic crystal ball that tells you how much a person is devoted to Hive... but it helps get an idea!
I mean think about it... if someone has a KE of < 1... they are actively adding FIAT to Hive... they have put in more $$$ into Hive Power (HP) than they have earned Rewards (Curation + Author).
If someone has a KE of 29 though... Something tells me they probably aren't keeping any of those Rewards...
But like everything... it's just a tool... it's not Black and White... it's more like... š
Back on track - over the last few days or week or so... there's been a buzz of activity around Hive. It's been centered on the importance of KE and possible ways to use it.

This tool allows you to check out ANY Hive Accounts info and it calculates their KE for a quick glance.
Now, here's where things get...
Lol, I am on a roll with these lmaoooooooooooooooo ok ok...
So... what is this "Grayness" I speak of... Well lets say someone writes on Peakd... or InLeo or Ecency or whatever their Frontend Fancy is... and they get a bunch of Author Rewards...
What if they take all of their Rewards... Power them DOWN... but use them to buy assets for other Hive Projects - like Splinterlands, Holozing, Demonicore, CryptoShots, Crownrend, Soulkeep, Moonkarts, etc
Is that extracting... ehhhhhhhhhhhh... well...
It's hard to say... and it should be left up to individual interpretation!
It's PRETTY OBVIOUS when someone takes all their rewards, powers them down and ships them off to an exchange like Binance... bye bye value! 100% Extraction. Easy peazy.
Ok... so what should someone do... what KE will ensure they aren't labeled as "Extractors" but will also allow them to use their Rewards for other things too... I have made this clear as mud...
Now, this won't work for everyone, because we all have different goals... but I have a super easy plan that will allow me to:
Grow my Hive Power (HP)
Grow my Hive Assets (Splinterlands and other games)
Not be labeled as an "Extractor"
Ok... OK!!! Now we're talking!!
Super Easy - everyone likes that!!
Grow their HP AND buy STUFF they want?!?! SAY WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?!?!
NOT get labeled as an "extractor" on top of all of that?!?!?!
But it isn't!!! As I was discussing with Beaker007 on their post, I realized one of the Default Payouts on 
Well... would ya look at that! I mean, you DO have a drop down list for your "Reward Distribution" under the Advanced Settings on your posts...
If you want a post to be directly reinvested into your HP... set it at 100% Hive Power! Boom!! Simply: Write Post, Get Votes, Claim Reward = 100% Of those Rewards... POWERED UP!!! That will drop your KE like a STONE... in water of course... in Space... well... different story I suppose...
However... Let's say you have a few projects you dabble in... games...or whatever... Let's use me as an example!!
When I write Splinterlands content... I can set it to 50% Hive Power (woohoo) and 50% Hive Backed Dollars (HBD).
The Hive Power would require a 13 Week unstaking process but the HBD is LIQUID, which means it is available IMMEDIATELY to send, spend, save, throw at digital strippers - whatever you wanna do with it!!
If I do it this way...
I can write about Splinterlands and post it in the Splinterlands Community... then take 50% of the Rewards as Hive Power and use the other 50% to buy Splinterlands Assets like $SPS, DEC, Land, Cards for #Survival, save the $$ for the upcoming Conclave Arcana set and more!!
I can write about Holozing and post it in the Holozing Community... then take 50% of the Rewards as Hive Power and use the other 50% to buy Holozing Assets like $ZING, Alpha Vials, Starter Sets and more!!
I can write about Moonkarts, Genesis League Goals and Arcade Colony...
I can write about...
The best part about doing it this way is... You will NEVER... EVER... have a KE > 2!!!
I mean seriously... if you think about it... if you take HALF of your Rewards... and power them UP... Half you do WHATEVER YOU WANT... remember, KE is calculated like this:
Just in case you need it written out for you...
If you earn 2 Hive as Rewards... and you Power Up 1... KE = 2/1... WHICH EQUALS 2!!
So... what does all this mean? It means I can write articles, guides, insights, lucky finds, bad beats, hype, hyperbole, reports - and more...
Then take anything I earn - which is ALWAYS up to those individuals and representatives... nothing is guaranteed on Hive and there is "no such thing as a free lunch"... but... should my content have "value"... I can take those Rewards...
Power them up to grow my Hive Power
Use the HBD to grow my COMMUNITY SPECIFIC Assets
NEVER DROP BELOW A KE OF TWO, even if I stopped adding FIAT (which I won't)...
So by 2025, I hope to grow in all those areas... but my main target is to grow my Hive Power to 25,000... although 20,000 would be acceptable... 25k is the Goal!!
That's 15k more than I started with on January 1st... and I've been on Hive since I started playing Splinterlands in October of 2021...
Oct 2021 -> Jan 1st 2025 = 0 -> 10k Hive Power...
Goal:
Jan 1st 2025 -> Jan 1st 2026 = 10k -> 25k Hive Power... š
Wheeeeeeeeeeeew lawdy... that is a LOFTY goal... but you know what... I've made some friends... I publish "good" content... well... at least... it's "Helpful" content... most of the time... and makes people laugh... so that's something... right?
Anyways... I am going to keep growing, keep writing, keep playing, keep being helpful, keep being funny, keep being useful and most of all... I am going to keep being kind.
Because for all of the positive... there are disagreements... there are arguments... but remember... and remember this lesson well...
"If you want to be part of a positive Community... don't jump from Community to Community... find something you love and are passionate about... and BEE the Positivity!!!" (that's what I believe anyway)
