Good morning Splinterlandians...
Today I share a battle with you to highlight some pretty sus RNG and give you the math behind my reasoning and frustration 😅
Today's example I give you is as if the RNGods looked down upon me with disapproval in their beady little eyes 😑
Here's how the two "rules" for the game work in this battle:
- Flying: 25% Chance to evade an attack from a Non-Flying Creature
(The Ability "Snare" negates this and Monsters with Snare ALWAYS hit a Monster with Flying)
- Speed: For every ONE Speed Difference, the HIGHER Speed Monster will have a +10% chance to evade... you know... for being speedy n stuff... 🤷♂
I mean... that checks out right? Playing tag with a Sloth... you're at an advantage... Playing tag with a Cheetah... yikes.
Flying = 25% Evasion chance... 2 Speed x 10% = +20% Evasion Chance...
Total Evasion Chance = 45%
Total HIT Chance = 55%
Out of SEVEN ATTACKS... How many SHOULD hit???
7 x 55% = 3.85 attacks SHOULD land...
How many attacks do you THINK landed???
Take a guess...
This is the kind of "RNG" that drives me insane - at least on Gambling Machines where they have a "Skill Game", they claim to be "Provably Fair"... which is what makes me question the RNG sometimes - I know you've felt it too...
With enough of these battles under my belt, seeing something that wins 7 Coin Flips in a row... that's just nuts and it makes me curious enough to ask this question:
Just for simple MATH purposes... In order to have 7 Misses in a row at only 45% chance to miss... that's .37%
That's not thirty seven percent mind you... That is POINT THREE SEVEN PERCENT... or about 1 in 300 Chance of that happening 😡
So for alllllllllllllll the plebs out there who are going to say "bUt It CaN hApPen..."... No shit. Of course it CAN... Except it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY too...
But to see a 1 in 300 outcome (not isolated) and then hear people say "tHaT iS sTiLl PoSsIbLe BrO..." - that's some smooth-brain shit right there and you're kinda dumb and have absolutely no empathy...
Wanna know what the appropriate response is?
"Holy balls bro, you just got boned hard by the RNG system wtf"...
With this response, you recognize the fact that someone who is rightfully agitated, got absolutely REAMED by the RNGods - but still remind them... It's just RNG.
I suppose that is the double edged sword that is "True RNG"... but hot damn country ham - that shit sucks when it happens to you 😤 and people who belittle your bad luck are just douchebags for doing so - especially when a tough loss like this compounds the struggles of getting out of Modern Bronze...
However, as a bonus I cracked a Chaos Legion Pack as a joke to score a Low EV... and boy oh boy did I WIN that one today...
