Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Temporal Master card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Featured Monster: Temporal Master
Temporal Master is a life splinter card that costs 3 mana. It starts with recharge and learns stun at max level. The stats are low and it doesn't really look that great. While it can deal some good damage, it's low damage doesn't make it very useful in my eyes.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is little league. This means that I can only use monsters with a mana cost of 4 or less. There is also 25 mana available and I am left with the choice of water, life or death splinter.
The summoner I choose to use this time is Mother Khala. I want to be able to play the highest level monsters that I can and +1 health is always useful.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mother Khala | 3 | Summoner | +1 Health |
| Crystal Jaguar | 4 | 1st | Thorns |
| Pelacor Conjurer | 2 | 2nd | Reflect |
| Truthspeaker | 3 | 3rd | +2 Armor |
| Temporal Master | 3 | 4th | Magic monster |
| Light Elemental | 4 | 5th | Magic monster |
| Venari Crystalsmith | 4 | 6th | Tank Heal |
| Total Mana: | 23 |
My plan is just to have a some thorns and reflect up near the top to tank the hits. Then I have a support with +2 armor and a tank heal mosnter as support. Between all of this is some magic monsters so I can take out my opponent's monsters.
Round 1
At first glance, I think I have lost this match. My damage is lacking compared to my opponent and the two sneak monsters will also be quite annoying. My Pelacor Conjurer with reflect will also be useless.
Round 2
The first round didn't end that badly but my healer is almost dead. Once that goes away, I will be in trouble. I am more or less focused on one monster but my opponent is attacking me through sneak and the front.
Round 3
With my tank and healer down, I don't think I stand a chance anymore. From what I see, I might take out another monster or two but I won't have any advantage because his summoner also gives him bonus speed and I doubt that my flying monsters will live that long.
In the end, I lost the match and there wasn't much I could do about it. My own lineup lost most of it's damage already and there wasn't much I could change about it.
Conclusion
The battle this time around did not go as I expected. The lineup I built with too much support. The thorns wasn't as useful because his reach monster could negate the damage and the Conjurer was useless because there were no magic monsters on his side.
Mother Khala was still useful as it made my monsters live longer but it was less useful compared to my opponent's +1 speed and shield. In the end, I think I lost due to my focus on trying to have so many support abilities rather than damage. In the end, I think the monsters such as Temporal Master did not work well because I couldn't live long enough.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
