Obviously, in the first level, Molten Ash Golem seems not an ideal monster for any lineup in the fire deck considering that the commonly used summoner (because of its cheapness and praticality wise for beginners) in the lower leagues is Tarsa. It does not compliment with the buff exuded by the summoner.
With 1 attack point, 1 speed point, 9 HP, everyone will surely leave this out during the team selection process. However, one thing that makes it useful is its Closed Range ability. It enables you to put it on the first position to serve as your tank, especially in the lower leagues with lower battle mana caps. And this is the only thing that I can see it fit to a lineup.
Moving to higher leagues, even if it evolves and learns the Weaken and Demoralize abilities, players will surely think twice in choosing this for their lineups. It only has maximum 3 Attack Points and a low speed of 2. Perhaps, it can be useful in reverse ruleset.
ROSTER ANALYSIS
To easily remember this lineup, I branded this as the "The Molten Ash Bait Squad" for it used the theme monster as the tank, and landed most of the attacks sneakily and unexpectedly stroke by my assassination crews (Serpentine Spy and Tenyii Striker).
| MONSTER | THE ROSTER SELECTION PROCESS |
|---|---|
| Molten Ash Golem | It has high HP, and medium mana cost. Ideal for the tank position. If I am going to use this monster, there's no other use for this except being the tank for my lineup. |
| Radiated Scorcher | A low mana melee. Actually, this is just my reserve for the first position. I placed it in the second because it may be killed instantly by faster enemies because of low HP and slow speed. |
| Tenyii Striker | When using Molten Ash Golem as the tank, your lineup can't expect to have a great attack in front. So, it's best to attack at the back. Tenyii really does the job of backstabbing enemies. It really catches them off-guard! |
| Serpentine Spy | With the advantage of speed, high damage buffed by Tarsa, and that Opportuniy, this card will terrifically change the course of battle. |
| Xenith Archer | If choosing a low mana cost monster for a low mana cap battle, it is best to choose the one that contributes even the smallest effort. With that one Attack Point and 2 HP, Xenith Archer can be used as sacrificed for backstabbing monster, and an addition to your attacking chances. |
I used this Molten Ash Bait Squad to take advantage of the ability of my assassin crews (Serpentine Spy and Tenyii Striker) in seizing a win from my opponent Smarket. The opponent used an Earth splinter squad led by magic summoner Obsidian.
My Molten Ash Bait Squad was a perfect combination for it quickly decapitated the attacking squad of my opponent during the first squad, leaving him a one-man squad in the next round.
FINAL JUDGEMENT
Honestly, if you are going to form a highly attacking squad, Molten Ash Golem can be difficult to fit in. The only suitable position for this monster is a tank. Its high HP and Closed Range ability can be handy when playing in lower leagues. It is best to pair this with monsters with sneak, snipe and opportunity abilities (Lava Spider, Tenyii Striker, Serpentine Spy and Uraeus can be perfect match for this monster) because you cannot expect this to damage greatly if it is used as a tank. The only use for this monster to take damages from the enemy monsters.
