Greetings Splinterfolk!
The purpose of this series of posts is to record my investment in Splinterlands and to ultimately determine if it was worth it or not.
I began my Splinterlands journey at the beginning of October 2021 after reading an article about the Play-to-Earn genre in the NFT world. Due to my love of trading card games, I was naturally drawn to Splinterlands. Before I knew it, I found myself with several accounts and spending a good couple of hours playing everyday.
The first couple of months was devoted to playing everyday and alternating on which accounts I played in order to maximize the daily rewards and ECR. Before long, I managed to turn $70 into $400, which is $330 profit or 471% ROI. Read more about it here.
At the beginning of 2022, I switched jobs and found myself with little to no time for Splinterlands. Fortunately, there are multiple ways to immerse yourself in the game. While I no longer had the time to juggle multiple accounts and play regularly, I was (and still am) able to blog about my experiences and manage my assets. For example, I decided to invest into the newly released Chaos Legion set. Read more about it here.

Since my last update, you may have noticed a drastic change in my Splinterland assets. I made the decision to liquidate my SPS and card holdings. With the new update to the ranked reward system, I foresee SPS drastically dropping in value and decided to convert the majority of my SPS into the new Riftwatchers set in order to hold the value. I decided to buy 50 Riftwatchers packs during the pre-sale, and I will make a series similar to my Chaos Legion Series if you're interested in following that initiative.
I also liquidated my card holdings as I no longer have the time to monitor the card market and micro-manage my rental strategy. For that reason, I believe that if I kept my card holdings then I would slowly lose value in the coming months. I decided to take all the DEC I received from selling my cards and bought more Chaos Legion packs on the secondary market. I am certain that I did not do this process in the most efficient way but I was willing to accept that in order to gain the peace of mind that I do not need to log into my account regularly anymore.
While Splinterlands does have a referral program in place, it only benefits the referrer and not the referee. Therefore, it is up to us (the existing players) to create our own referral program to help new players enter into the game. Here is how mine works:
- Sign up for Splinterlands through my referral link here.
- Once you buy the Summoner's Spellbook, I will receive 500 credits ($0.50) which I will use to buy DEC, cards, or both to help you start your Splinterlands journey.
- All you need to do is comment below the IGN you used to sign up with. Once I have verified it, I will reach out to see what you would like to spend your $0.50 on and then send it over.
