Hi everyone,
this is my first Social Media Challenge and I would like to present a certain strategy with the Death Splinter for the Equalizer ruleset, which works really well and I'm surprised I don't see it more often in Silver.
I feel like Thaddius Brude and Death in general are being a little bit overlooked when it comes to the Chaos Legion Edition. I would like to change that by sharing this strategy with you, hopefully showing you how powerful these cards can be, especially when taking their price into consideration.
You can watch the full battle here, but I will break it down and go into detail in the following. Let's jump in!
Equalizer
Don't use high HP monsters and focus on high damage. Try to use a lot of monsters as well. Having a Tank Heal, Thorns, Triage for defense helps a lot." - from Splintercards
(In short: Every monster gets the health of the highest health monster on the battlefield)
The Strategy
So we've learned that big monsters are bad and small monsters with high attack are good. This of course depends on the mana cap. If it's a 99 mana game, you don't need to force yourself to play 1 or 2 cost monsters. But more often than not it's below 30, I would say.
And here is what we are going for in particular:
As you can see, we are going for low health monsters with good abilities. Crypt Beeetle as a tank with the Shield will absorb tons of damage. If you play this line up with a Thaddius he'll also survive longer against magic heavy teams.
Bonesmith and Life Sapper will increase their health by 1 each round, and since they most likely start with high health they often end up with around 15 health before they even get to the first position. The Bonesmith's poison is also huge.
You can add different monsters in the backline, for more damage or some Repair to keep the Crypt Beetle alive even longer, but I like to throw in a Riftwing. It is very hard to hit, returns fire when missed and gains health through Scatter. Put it at the very end of the line up to absorb sneak attacks and have your Spirit Hoarder heal it back up.
The only downside to this line up is that the death team has no tank heal and not everyone has a Kitty. Because heal is so strong with high health I would suggest to throw in a monster with Affliction, to counter your opponent.
The Battle
This is what it looks like in action. In retrospect I should've put the Riftwing at the very end, but it worked just fine this way. I won't go through the entire battle here, because I don't want to turn this into a Share Your Battle Challenge post, but I'll leave the link to the full battle here again.
Card Prices
These two are the most important
Final Thoughts
Whenever Death is available in Equalizer matches and the mana cap isn't above 30 I play this strategy and it literally always works.
If you don't have certain cards or don't have them leveled up, that's no problem. Except for Poison all monsters have their abilities at level one, so this also works in Bronze League. Furthermore you can switch out the Crypt Beetle for a Cursed Windeku if you have enough mana and want more damage or you could throw the Beetle in the back to protect from sneak, it really fits anywhere lol.
