Hello community, this week my post is about the Grim Reaper card from the game Splinterlands, it's a card that I really like to use especially against Magic attacks
BATTLE CHALLENGE:
THEME: Grim Reaper
Edition: Reward
Rarity: Rare
Element: Death
Attack: Ranged
Abilities: Affliction
STATS OF CARD
Grim Reaper at its initial level starts with Affliction skill in which it has a chance to prevent the target from being healed in its attack, which is not guaranteed but has a 50% probability which is very good in battles that we predict the opponent can use monsters with Tank Heal or Heal skill and with that we can create an advantage in our favorable by combining Grim Reaper in our formation.
In its initial level it has a good attack power, it's bad for its health points, and its speed where it spends 6 Mana, its speed leaves a little to be desired because against monsters with high speed, it has a greater chance of missing the target and so it neither creates damage with its attack nor applies its ability.
But in its evolution, its low attributes at the initial level increase and completely change the content of the card, in which at level 5 it gains a new Oppress ability, in which it deals double damage to monsters without any type of attack and in its last level evolution gains ability Piercing, in which if your attack causes excess damage to the opponent's monster's armor, it removes the excess of health points.
If at the initial level Grim Reaper stands out for its Affliction skill, in its complete evolution it is an excellent attack card with good abilities.
BATTLE
My combination for this battle is a little risky and doesn't work against any type of Splinters and monsters, it has a greater effect against Magic attack monsters, in this case because of the opponent's last battles using Magic attack cards, I understood that I would follow the same criterion of choice, and that's why I risked betting on this formation for the battle.
Under the Fog of War battle ruleset, monsters lost Snipe and Sneak abilities.
With that I understood that I could risk using a formation against magic attacks so I chose the Splinter Death Summoner Thaddius Brood with Buffer (-1 Magic attack, -1 Health) in which it would nullify Obsidian's Buffer.
As a tank I chose Bone Golem of Melee attack with Void ability in which I could neutralize most Magic attacks, but to prevent the opponent's tank from being healed I combined Grim Reaper due to its Affliction ability, but as it has low speed and is more likely to miss its attack, I combined Creeping Ooze with Slow skill to reduce the speed of the opponent's monsters and thus increase the effectiveness rate of Grim Reaper.
The defense was set, it would take attacking monsters, Lira the Dark with its high speed doesn't miss the target, and the Opportunity skill would hit the monster with less health points, reducing the formation of the opponent's team.
Joining Soul Strangler and Weirding Warrior with Ranged attack, my formation was complete, placing the best cards in the last places of the battlefield, protecting from possible Opportunity attacks by the opponent.
I was not mistaken and the opponent chose what I was waiting for, Magic attack cards and so my mounted strategy had a greater chance of succeeding, also depending on the effectiveness of Grim Reaper's ability to prevent Mycelic Slipspawn from being healed and for that to happen Creeping Ooze was hugely important in battle.
Starting the battle, my monsters don't miss with their attacks and Grim Reaper manages to apply Affliction with its attack, and so in the first round I can eliminate Mycelic Slipspawn and the battle is going favorably for me.
The battle ends in the third round without having lost any monsters, the mounted strategy worked that it didn't give any chance to the opponent.
RESUME
Setting up a strategy for the battle is of enormous value, predicting what the opponent will choose, sometimes it doesn't go as well as we expected, other times the opponent changes the turns and our strategy is useless.
In this case I can say that my strategy was well put together and that the opponent chose what I predicted to happen and so the battles seem much easier, but only because we use a strategy and follow a logic.
In this case Grim Reaper was hugely important because it managed to apply Affliction on its first attack and prevent the opponent's Tank from being healed and combined with Creeping Ooze allowed to decrease the speed of the opponent's team's monsters and increase the attack success rate of mine monsters and make the battle easier to be victorious at the end of the battle.
