Introduction
Hi! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday.
I come up with a new content which I called "Giant Killing Chronicles" where I share battles but unlike my Weekly battle challenge, it does not have a featured monster but instead show battles that I at first seems to be at disadvantage due to the level gap between my team and the opponent but still prevail at the end just like in sport where an underdog team wins over a powerful opponent.
As we know, Splinterlands is a card game where in we can level cards and as we level- up this cards, their stats increases and they also gained some abilities which will give it more chance to win the game but it also comes down for one to have the skills to counter your opponent's line- up and luck so there are times that even if you have a low level team as long as it was takes opportunity of the rule set and completely counters your opponent, then even an underdog line- up has the possibility of winning. Of course it does not happen every time but it's very satisfying when they do.
Card Levels per Summoners
Common
Rare
Epic
Legendary
As you can see, each summoner type has different levels of monster that you can play defending on their level cap and defending on the type of the summoner your opponent has, there are times that even if we play the same level of summoner, there will be a difference on the level of monsters due to the summoners rarity. The accounts that I will be using for this content are mainly playing at between silver and gold on the modern league with bronze cap level deck. This means that the monster I can use is cap at level 3 for common, level 2 for rare (level 3 for epic summoners), level 2 for epic and level 1 for legendary and I can only use level 2 rare and epic summoners and level 1 legendary summoner.
The Battle
Rule Set
| Conditions | Description |
|---|---|
Silver League Modern Format | 38 Mana Cap Available Elements: Water, Earth, Death, Dragon |
Armored Up | All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. |
Heavy Hitters | All Monsters have the Knock Out ability. |
For this battle, I am using a level 2 Earth summoner Obsidian which gives +1 magic damage on all ally monsters while my opponent is using a level 4 Death summoner Owster Rotwell that gives the Magic Reflect ability on his ally monsters. Level 4 is the max level cap for Silver league.
With the Armored Up rule set, both allies and foes will received + 2 armor on all of their monsters so knowing that, I choose a magic heavy team with Obsidian since magic damage were able to pass most armor no matter how many it is while also use the combination of Queen Mycelia with the Protect ability that adds another layer of +2 armor to all ally monsters, making the total number of added armor to + 4 and the use of Sporcerer with the Rust ability to remove -2 armor on all the opponent monsters. As if it was the Obvious thing, my opponent has seen that I will use a magic team and decided to use Owster Rotwell that gives the Magic Reflect ability to all of its monsters, an ability that will return magic damage to my team every time they attack with magic damage but at the same time he also focus on using a diversity of monster types instead of also focusing on magic so that they will be able to pass though my team's thick armor. So while I am receiving reflected damage, it also means that it is also the most damage that I would get until the opponent has managed to remove all the armor from my monsters. Our tanks both has the Thorns ability which deals -2 damage when a melee monsters attack but since I have the armor while he has not, I was able to defeat it first and I also use Mycelic Slipspawn with the Taunt ability to spread out the damage that my tank would received instead. I also use a Goblin Psychic with the Tank Heal and Spirit Hoarder with the Triage ability in order to restore the some health on the monsters that are receiving damage from the front and tank which allows them to survive longer. And this are the main reason that I was able to prevail despite the fact that the opponent has the upper hand in terms of card level and abilities.
The Result
Battle win- rate from Splintertools.
The Match ended on round 4 with 3 of my monsters defeated. Battle log from Splintertools shows that I have 100% win rate against this team. This would have been reversed very easy if the opponent use a level 4 Venari Spellsmith with the Amplify that increases the damage received from reflected and indirect damage by 1.
