How to not start playing Splinterlands for the first few days

Hi Everyone,

are you tired of reading success stories, cool strategies and random battle posts for splinterlands? Are you maybe more interested in reading about others mistakes in the game to have a lough an avoid them yourself? This might be worth a lough for you.

So my Splinterlands story started literally 4 days ago without any clue on how to earn and how to play. You might say the smart thing would be to watch videos and read all these cool guides here in the community after using an affiliate link that would set you up with a decent amount of starting DEC.

This would be quite a boring post if this was my story 😅

First mistake: I did not use an affiliate link that set me up with starting DEC

--> I wanted to start playing now and did not understand the importance

Second mistake: I did not read a single articel nor watched a single video

--> I was feeling overwhelmed with all this content

Third mistake: I decided to run directly for higher leagues

--> I wanted to start earning stuff now not later

Fourth mistake: I just rented the first summoner & monters kombi in gold foil that I read about

--> Kind of a follow on from mistake three

What did this result in
I bought 12,000 credits per PayPal to rent Kron the Undiying on Lvl 2 and Scarred Llama Mage for 2 days and paid ~8,700 Credits.

Fifth mistake: I always selected this Kombi nonwithstanding the rules of the battle

--> I paid for these cards so why not use them as much as possible

Experienced players will aready know what happened:

1. I did reach Silver II with my DEC capture rate down to ~22%
2. I did earn about 350 DEC getting there // this equals ~4$
3. I did pay more to get there then getting in payout
4. After the rental ended I fell back to bronze because of lacking power

Take-Away for new Players:

1. Use a referral link // Just google referral Splinterlands 200 DEC and you will find some
2. Play with the cards you have to understand the game first
3. Do not pay money before you understand the mechanics

Be smarter then me 😉
