Equal Opportunity to learn from Opponents
Every time I get surprised by an opponent's strategy, I try to take a mental note of it. Then, when I do find the time to write about it, this often helps me remember it.
The following strategy is quite simple, but nonetheless effective for what I've seen.
Before, the way I used to approach Equal Opportunity was always to sprinkle my lineups with a few baits to divert attention. It worked sometimes, but it wasn't ideal.
Finally, one of my opponents unintentionally taught me how to use the Camouflage ability in the right context. That's often when you start to ask yourself why you've never thought of it before…
Camouflage, the "Hidden Secret"
Camouflage seems to have been introduced in the game fairly recently as only 4 monsters currently have this ability. To be honest, I joined the game at a time when Djinn Biljka was already part of the in-print Reward cards. So, I basically never knew Splinterlands without Camouflage.
Here are the four monsters bestowed with this ability:
Until recently though, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. In higher levels, being able to hide Scavo Hireling is certainly useful. However, I guess I kind of gave up way too early on this ability after Djinn Biljka killed itself against the opposite tank’s Magic Reflect the very first time I’ve tried to use it… And, besides Hireling, the other Camouflage monsters are all Magic monsters.
Camouflage in Equal Opportunity
The gist of the idea is to hide Magi Necrosi behind the Cursed Windeku, which forces opposing monsters to direct their attacks on the Windeku's Thorns while in the meantime, Necrosi takes care of the support monsters with low mana one by one.
The high Health Points of Cursed Windeku make it a great tank, even in cases, no melee monsters are found on the opposite side. Its HP often buys enough time for Magi Necrosi to inflict serious damage, especially in low mana battles.
Moreover, Thaddeus Brood -1 Health debuff is very helpful as well. In those low mana games, there is already a good chance to face monsters with low HP, so this debuff can often make Necrosi's task even easier.
