Quick Context
Last week, I was considering slowing down my progression within the game, mainly because I had reached the limits of the entertainment budget I fixed for myself.
However, in an ultimate move in the hope of raising more capital to play with, I've decided to bet on a short-term play (flipping vouchers) that I wrote about in my last post.
Made $165 within a WEEK thanks to Splinterlands! [One-Shot Trade]
Fortunately enough, I got a profit of $165, which is to me quite a lot as I've only crossed the $200 mark of Deck Value a week ago. Consequently, I wanted to spend this amount as "wisely" as possible.
Quick breakdown
Here is a quick breakdown of what I have done with it so far:
$20 spent for 7 Chaos Legion packs on Tribaldex.
This would allow me to have 10 extra packs in my account to make use of my potions. Not sure yet if I'll do it. Still, in the meantime, those packs count for the SPS airdrop.
$50 spent mostly on Rewards Cards to buff up my Collection Power from 35k to 45k.
My current goal is to reach 50k CP before the Modern Format launches. This would allow me to compete in Gold III without having to worry about renting to get there.
$95 spent on developing one splinter
Looking at those numbers, I knew I wouldn't have much trouble reaching the 50k CP threshold. This is when I started to think about leveling-up up one of my splinters.
At first, I wanted to level up at least two splinters simultaneously. Nevertheless, in my situation, I quickly realized that it wouldn't make much sense.
I am already renting at a cheap cost all of the Level 2 Chaos Legion summoners, so getting two of them at that level wouldn't help me improve my game much.
On the other hand, leveling-up up a summoner to level 3 would already eat up a good chunk of the budget. So, I had no other choice than to focus on one unique splinter.
My choice got rapidly oriented towards General Sloan as it was the cheapest summoner on the market.
Plus, with more and more high mana cap battles than ever, I noticed that I was often choosing General Sloan anyway.
General Sloan
Time to leveling-up a summoner has finally come (for me)
Then, while comparing the prices between the Regular Foil (RG) and the Gold Foil (GF), I found out that there was "only" a $10 difference to get them at level 3.
CP per Dollar-cost ratio
RG: (14 BCX * 20 CP) / $30 = 9.33
GF: (2 BCX * 500 CP) / $40 = 25
Both are awful CP per Dollar-cost ratios, but this is always the case when it comes to summoners. In need of CP, the 2.5x from the GF was still worth the additional $10 to me.
Moreover, I have been playing with (rented) Gold Foil summoners for a while now, and I got used to the 10% bonus I receive after each win. Over time, it accumulates.
Therefore, I ended up buying 2 Gold Foil copies of General Sloan.
Right away, this move cleaned up $40 from my budget.
I chose to go with the Life Splinter because I figured out that with Sloan at Level 3, I would be able to unlock several interesting abilities.
Rare Summoner Level 3
- Commons up to Level 4
- Rares up to Level 3
- Epics up to Level 2
- Legendaries up to Level 2
Being able to take advantage of Level 2 Legendaries was the first benefit compared with the first two levels of a rare summoner.
This would allow me to use Uriel The Purifier with Heal and Adelade Brightwing with Resurrect.
I hadn't any of them, so another good chunk of the budget would eventually go to those two relatively expensive monsters.
After burning dozens and dozens of dollars, now was time to think about other less expensive cards.
My latest purchases
What I already had:
What I was working on:
What I am still working on:
What I will have to work on:
There are already a few combos I am looking forward to testing out. The Magic Reflect from the Pelacor Conjurer combined with the Amplify brought by Dax Paragon is for sure one of those.
The Resurrect from Adelade Brightwing combined with Shieldbearer or Uriel The Purifier could work well, especially if there are Tank Heal, Triage, or Repair monsters to back them up.
Hopefully, I've made the right choices.
In the end, this additional $165 allowed me to accomplish three goals I had in mind; (1) getting packs to eventually use my potions, (2) reaching Gold III in Modern Format, and finally (3) developing one of my splinters.
I hope you've enjoyed the post. See you in the next one!
Cheers!
