A horde of Death Legendaries
Looking through my opponent's latest battles, I was expecting a "magic spam" using his overpowered legendaries death team.
LICH | NIGHTSHADE | SPECTER | |

Knowing what was coming was one thing, countering it effectively was another...
My "No Legendaries" Squad
Rulesets: Equalizer + Healed Out
Mana Cap: 30
League: Gold III
Without "Amplify" in my deck, I wasn't sure if the Magic Reflect of Owster Rotwell would work out.
Moreover, passing on Thaddeus Brood as my Summoner, I was giving up on the useful -1 magic debuff.
However, going head-to-head by counting solely on my death team's weak hit points was a sure loss. Therefore, Magic Reflect was my only hope to at least put up a decent fight.
1st position - Bone Golem
Putting Bone Golem in the front was a no-brainer. Its Void ability could at least buy some time for the whole team. It ended up working better than I expected as Cthulhu and Ancient Lich's 4 magic attacks were reduced to 2 and reflected back to them. |
|---|
2nd position - Creeping Ooze
Creeping Ooze was there to slow any potential Melee or Range monsters. The goal was to preserve Bone Golem's health as much as possible. On top of it, in the Equalizer ruleset, having a 1 mana cost monster with any extra health points was good to take. |
|---|
3rd Position - Riftwing
I like to go with a Scavenger monster in those situations. Their ability makes them very resilient once they've reached the front line. Riftwing was perfect for this role. This move bought more time for Magi Necrosi and Grim Reaper to do their damage. |
|---|
4th Position - Magi Necrosi
I was looking for monsters with low health and a fair amount of attacks. Magi Necrosi's Camouflage ensured it to last for at least a while. Its Snipe ability came in handy as well as it weakened the opposite monsters one by one before they could reach the front line. |
|---|
5th Position - Grim Reaper
It was a similar thinking process for this 5th card as I was looking for another "low" health / "high" damage monster. I wanted to put Affliction into the mix in fear of encountering a Self-Heal monster in the opposition. Grim Reaper fit the role perfectly. |
|---|
6th position - Crypt Beetle
Because Magi Necrosi and Grim Reaper were the only two support monsters that could actually inflict some damage, I couldn't take the risk of leaving them exposed to sneak attacks. Crypt Beetle with its Shield ability was there to take as many hits as necessary. |

Watching those Legendaries fell one at a time was pretty satisfying, especially with the Lost Legendaries-type of team on my side.
I hope you've enjoyed this battle.
See you in the next one!
