Sea Monster
Sea Monster is one of the first cards I ever rented. It offers a good amount of HP and most importantly, has the Heal ability. In higher leagues, however, its low speed can quickly become a drawback.
Still, costing only 0.1 DEC per day, I always kept one copy in my deck just in case I needed it. By playing in high Silver / low Gold though, I noticed that I was encountering more and more leveled-up Sea Monsters.
Something popped up evidently, a level 3 Sea Monster with one extra HP (up to 9) was able to heal for one extra HP per turn as well. This was a big deal, especially in low mana battles where monsters didn't often deal consequent damage.
The battle
Ruleset: Up Close & Personal
Mana Cap: 26
League: Silver I
In the following battle, I decided to go with Sea Monster as my main tank while trying to lower the opposition's Melee attacks as much as possible. To do so, I went with a double Demoralize.
Camilla Sungazer debuffs Melee attacks by 1. Being a Legendary summoner, I was able to count on my (rented) leveled-up Sea Monster as well. On top of that, I added the Disintegrator to debuff an additional Melee attack.
The Thorns and the 1 Melee attack of Djinn Chwala were inflicting 3 damage per turn to Sea Monster. But because it was a leveled-up one, it healed for 3 HP (instead of 2 originally) per turn as well.
The same thing happened at the end against Cursed Windeku. By lowering my opponent's melee damage, I allowed Sea Monster to single-handle the entire battle.
