What's up my fellow hivelings!
I was so caught up last month with lots of events so I have missed joining the past weeks contest. But don't worry because this week is another story for I have drawn you guys a new fan art to feast on.
Ever since I played Splinterlands, I always imagined how would the gameplay look if the battle animation works like a 2D battle system same with the ones we played in video games. best example are those old legendary games like Street Fighters, Marvel Vs Capcom, King of Fighters and many more in early 20's and as a kid who grew up playing these kind of games, I got the idea of creating a fanart similar to those games.
So without further ado, here's the art process.
Reference.
I used Alric Storm Bringer and Djinn Oshannus as my main character reference.
| Alric Strombringer | Djinn Oshannus |
Since Splinterlands have a summoner and Monster setup. that is why I have drawn 2 characters on this fan art. and I also think that these 2 badass card would be a great model for my art because if you think of it, these duo can be your primary pick for 12 mana battle. Am I right?
Drawing
As always everything should start from drawing, So I have drawn Alric Stormbringer and Djinn Oshannus on different paper canvas.
Line Art
After drawing the characters on paper now we moved to digital editing, first thing should be tracing the outline.
Now we combined the 2 outlines.
Basic Color
After the line was done, We can now start coloring them for base color.
There is a reason why I have colored them separately. but that would be for later on. for now we combined the colored illustration again.
Shadow and HighLights
Now the shading part!
| Hard Shadow | Light Shadow |
Highlight part!
| Highlight on both characters | Highlight on the Tidal wave |
Background
For the background, since the idea for this art was a 2d Battle format I have created a background that's look like an arena. But I also created a water swirl as a foreground material.
| Initial background | Background with foreground Swirl |
after creating the background and foreground swirl now we just need to put the characters into it.
Final Touches
For the final touches, below were the 3 things I have done
- Adding white bricks on the background arena wall.
- adjusting the outline color to compliment with the basic colors.
- add signature.
Output
If you think that would only be the final output. then youll be suprised bacause I also create a GIF version of this Fanart.
Original output.
GIF output.
Software used:
Adobe Photoshop for Digital Editing
CapCut Mobile for Animation
And that will be all guys, hope you like my work this time, I'll do my best to create fanart still even though my schedule got a bit busier than usual.
Thanks for visiting and see you on my next fanart.
