Croatia became the fourth team to compete for an extra round in three matches in a World Cup. Previously, Belgium (1986), England (1990) and Argentina (2014) experienced similar things.

In extra round, Croatia scored the winner in the 109th minute through Mandzukic. With this victory, Croatia will fight France in the final round which was held July 15, 2018. It also became Croatia's first final in the World Cup throughout their history.
