Hello friends. I want to share with you a few photos I took while salmon fishing in the ocean just outside of the Mouth of the Columbia River. We were very successful, coming within one fish from limiting out between the four of us. Pictured above from left to right is my son Kyle, myself, my niece Rachael, and her father, my brother-in-law Bill.
Crossing the Columbia River Bar into the Pacific Ocean is always a bit of a nail biter. It is commonly considered to be one of the world’s most dangerous bar crossings.
Once we crossed the bar, the waters in front of Long Beach, and Beard’s Hollow were pretty calm.
My brother-in-law Landing the first fish of the day.
My son’s first ever, salmon catch. He was so excited that he almost forgot he was seasick.
Fishing was great, but it could not top the quality time spent with family.
If you ever make it to Ilwaco, Washington for fishing, look up SeaBreeze Charters, and request Pat, a skipper with over 50 years experience on the river and ocean around Cape Disappointment. Thanks and I hope you enjoyed.
