Sup SteemSquad
So the world cup has kicked off and many steemians are getting in on the action with prediction score games, reviews of the games, opinions of who they think will win it and who they are supporting for the tournament and it's really livened up my feed which has been pretty slow as of late.
I've been going through tons of World cup content on the site and I didn't see much love for stand out players for each game and I thought it would be a cool series of posts to run with for the next month.
This is my second post in the series. If you'd like to check out the previous ones I'll keep listing them here:

Saudi Arabia vs Egypt
Essam El Hadary made a fantastic penalty save and two good reaction saves from second-half headers - he might have ended up on the losing side but both he and his country will remember his World Cup debut for years to come. Probably the save of the tournament by the 45-year-old who did everything he could to keep his team in the game, unfortunately, the rest of his team didn't do him any favours.
Uruguay vs Russia
Lucas Torreira, though, who mixes skill and technique with a tenacious attitude, dispelled the worries in the Group A victory with an outstanding performance at the base of Uruguay’s midfield, only misplacing five passes all game, while also making three interceptions. He suffocated Russia's midfield and acted as a base for all that was good going forward for Uruguay.
Photo Talk Sport
Iran vs Portugal
In a scrappy match with not many talking points apart from the VAR decisions, there was really nothing much to write home about. The game did, however, have one moment of real quality when Ricardo Quaresma produced the goal of the tournament so far.
Spain vs Morocco
Another terribly scrappy game and even with 4 goals shared it wasn't an enjoyable watch. My man of the match goes to ** Khalid Boutaib** who stayed calm to score a brilliant opener and then later was denied a second by De Gea. He proved a real threat up front and showed Spain no respite as he made a continued nuisance of himself
Have your say
So there you have it, the stand out players from the last 3 games. All of them are surprise inclusions with none of these players marked as big match players. Great to see some unfimiliar names showing they can compete on the worlds stage.
Who do you think was your stand out player in matchday 1 so far? Would love to hear your feedback as matches start coming thick and fast. So drop me a comment or a link to your review of world cup stand out players
