Sup SteemSquad
So the world cup has kicked off and many steemians are getting in on the action with prediction score games, reviews of the games, opinions of who they think will win it and who they are supporting for the tournament and it's really livened up my feed which has been pretty slow as of late.
I've been going through tons of World cup content on the site and I didn't see much love for stand out players for each game and I thought it would be a cool series of posts to run with for the next month.

England vs Belgium
Since both teams have already qualified both managers rung in the changes and turned the game into a largely mediocre, lifeless encounter in Kaliningrad that was settled by one moment of magic. The only real highlight of the game so i'm giving Adnan Januzaj man of the match for his goal six minutes after the break, the former Manchester United attacker cutting inside before curling a left-foot finish high past Jordan Pickford.

Panama vs Tunisia
There was no competition for the award with Sunderland's Wahbi Khazri standing head and shoulders above all the other players and showing some real class to produce one goal, one assist, five shots with three on target
Japan vs Poland
Probably one of the most boring games at this world cup which says a lot since there were plenty of sub-par games. The match finished in farcical fashion, with both sides happy to play the ball around at the back for much of the final quarter. Since there wasn't much to write about in this game I'm giving the man of the match to polish goalkeeper Łukasz Fabianski he was tested 3 times from pretty tame efforts but kept a clean sheet for his team which doesn't mean much since Poland is the first European nation to leave the world cup early.
Senegal vs Columbia
In a tight game where Senegal did all they could to break down Colombia it just wasn't to be. Man of the match goes to tiebreaker and Goalscorer Yerry Mina also registered a match-leading seven clearances, two interceptions and a 91.4% pass completion rate against Senegal
Have your say
So there you have it, the stand out players from the last 4 games. The final round of group games really went out on a whimper which is sad to see and why so many unfimiliar names were mentioned in todays post as teams put out second string teams to rest key players for the last 16 tie.
Who do you think was your stand out player in matchday 1 so far? Would love to hear your feedback as matches start coming thick and fast. So drop me a comment or a link to your review of world cup stand out players
