Chelsea manager Antonio Conte switched to his favoured 3-4-3 formation early on last season after a slow start to his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
The change proved hugely successful as the Blues went on to clinch the title, which saw them enjoy a winning streak from early October to January.
Alonso made the left wing-back role his own last term, scoring six goals and providing three assists in his 35 appearances.
But when asked, the Spaniard admits Chelsea are currently working on new formations in training as they look to improve next season.
“We are working on new things this year to improve as a team,” Alonso said.
