Hello friends of Steemit, especially sports lovers, I hope you are well and that all your investments continue to grow every day. Today I won't talk to you about football, as I came across a piece of news about a dance style that today is being catalogued as a sport, something that caught my attention.
I'm talking about the Pole Dance also known as Tube Dance or Cannon Dance, and I know that everyone imagines the sensual dance that is practiced in strippers clubs, but what they don't know is that today this dance has grown so much that it is now practiced as a sport of high physical demand.
History
The Pole Dance has records of the early twentieth century when it began in the world of the circus, and in the mid-50s was incorporated into the Cabarets where women were the first performers of this dance, having as main headquarters in North America and Great Britain.
Although this dance began in night clubs for the enjoyment of men mainly today is also seen as a sport. Behind that person who turns on a tube there is something else, and to understand it we must stop seeing it only as a way to captivate or seduce us.
Modalities
The people that practice it, little by little have been working to dissipate a little the pre-conception that we have towards this dance, that now consists rather of a rhythmic choreography in the bar, where a series of movements are executed which to the sight can seem simple, but that in reality they demand force, balance, good physical condition, creativity and flexibility so that they can be carried out in a correct way.
Currently there are two modalities of this new sport, the first of them is the artistic, which works fluidity in each of the movements that are executed, where the harmony and originality of each of them prevails. While the second is the sporting, based on a combination of different acrobatic maneuvers where the strength and coordination of the dance predominate.
Elements
The bar or tube is also important because it has two variants, because one of them is fixed and the other rotating, everything depends on the type of exercise to be performed. There are also competitions in this discipline, one of them is the individual modality and the other in pair. In these competitions the choreographies usually last around 4 minutes.
Currently
Pole Dance today is a sport that does not discriminate age or gender to practice it to give a greater context and reception. It has been seen that it is practiced by dancers up to 70 years old and men of any age. In this way the dance becomes not only a space for exercise but also a recreational one, also demonstrating its importance.
In the United States and various parts of the world have already held several championships in their different forms, showing everyone that it is something serious and not just a variety of erotic. I confess that I was one who believed this, but after this research I realized what it really represents for many people and the weight that this dance has.
Today there are numerous dance academies that teach it to anyone without any discrimination, also in fitness gyms is practiced, making it clear that this dance is also a sport, ideal to improve health and maintain a good physical condition.
Recommendations
If you are very interested in one of these modalities, I recommend you to take into account 4 main elements; Strength, Flexibility, dead weight increases, and coordination to make the turns, this will help you a lot to enjoy it to the maximum.
Did you know this about Pole Dance and would you be able to practice it?
