Twice he came close to the win at the Frijters Aquathlon circuit, but last Saturday it was finally time for Arno Lambrechts first victory. At Kapelle he managed to keep Lars Baeyens at bay and in the ranking, the Kuurne based athlete takes the lead after three races. The female race brought a Belgian win as well on the long distance.
Lote De Vet wins
Wuustwezel based athlete Lotte De Vet only had to allow Emke Erpelinck in front of her after the 1000m swim. Lotte emerged after 14'29, only five seconds behind Emke. But Emke was no match for the Belgian athlete on the run, Lotte took the win in 58'18 and was the only female to break the hour barrier. Petra Sloots came second for the third time and takes the lead in the ranking. Tinny Dames came third.
Arno and triathlon?
There were a lot less Belgian representatives as usual at the male race. The weekend is known for the start of the triathlon season at Herderen. Present were Lars Baeyens and Arno Lambrecht. We look forward to seeing Arno on a bike, the coastal swimmer might just be a valuable addition to the Belgian triathlon community. Emerging after 12'14 he took the lead 15 seconds ahead of Lars. During the 10km run he managed to solidify his lead, winning in 50'19. Baeyens came second in 53'22. Gert Van der Vinden was the first Dutch on three in 54'03.
The 500/5 was won by Chris Steenbakker, ahead of Sam Lazaroms and Dennis Boonman. The female race brought one Belgian to the podium. Kelly Vanden Eynde came third. Eva Cornelisse took the win, ahead of Nelleke Baldé.
